Regions Bank “Extra is our Ordinary”

Creator work for Guided by Good | Delivered May 14, 2025

20″ W x 16″ H Hinged Shadow Box frame plus Mixed Media: Paper, Card Stock, Mat Board and Thread

I was not involved in Guided by Good’s RFP work for Regions Bank outside of this ONE “leave-behind” they were giving the Regions team on the day of the final pitch.

Rebecca Trionfo from the New Business team had been looking for a reason to have me make a cut paper piece for a pitch for a while after seeing both what I’d previously done on the Arby’s social team and for The Home Depot’s Organic Social team. The Regions Bank pitch was the logical time to bring me and my Maker skills in because the theme of our RFP response was, “EXTRA IS OUR ORDINARY” – and what could be more “extra” than a framed piece of art to take with them after the meeting?

As with anything related to a pitch, the timeline was not in my favor. The final pitch date was May 14th, 2025… the below was copied from Slack messages and started while my husband and I were on vacation visiting his brother’s family in Seattle:

Rebecca (3:21 pm):
Hi! Are you avail tomorrow at all 👀
I have a request from New bizzzzz

Me (4:51 pm):
Hi Rebecca! I’m in Seattle through Sunday, so is what you need something that can wait until I’m back in Atlanta?

Rebecca (4:53 pm):
Omg yes! I just wanted to ask you about making a paper ‘Thank You’ for Regions… I mentioned this to the team and they LOVED it – so just wanted to connect on the official ask, timing, and if you can take this on.

The meeting is set for 5/14 so we can meet top of next week when you are back?

Me (5:37 pm):
OK!

Rebecca (1:47 pm):
Hi hi — just checking in, how’s the Regions paper coming? Anything I can do to support there?

Me (4:43 pm):
All good! Cranking through as much as I can tonight since Stapes / Shea approved the design on Friday.

Rebecca (4:50 pm):
Amazing appreciate you!!

The things we do for pitch theater…

I started by designing two possible approaches in Adobe Illustrator, knowing I would need vector shapes if I was going to get any help from my Cricut for the final piece. Any time there is something very technical and precise like a brand’s logo, I defer to having the Cricut cut it out rather than hand-cutting it with an X-Acto.

After a VERY quick approval process, I spent a weekend building the piece. The most fun was hand-stringing the spokes on the bicycle – they are literally individual strings for each spoke.

Like every live pitch, we always try to make the office look “bustling and busy,” so I brought the final shadow box in and worked from Guided by Good’s offices at The Proscenium building in Midtown Atlanta that day. The Head of Growth & New Business, Christy Cross, snapped a photo of me holding it as I walked into the conference room to deliver it.

Similar to other architectural builds I’ve done, this one “went back in space” by having the sidewalk in front of the bank end at the very edge of the shadow box’s front – so the bicycle is actually on the ground where its tires touch down, but is floating about 3/4″ above the background by the handlebars.

The Illustrator versions of my two original concepts. The green bicycle was a must-have, so one of my ideas was to do a really detailed version of just the bike.
